Dr Andrew Hall OBE

Namaste! Welcome to the website of the British Embassy in Nepal.

The friendship between Britain and Nepal goes back two hundred years. I am proud to have the opportunity to represent the United Kingdom at this critical moment in Nepal’s history. We are committed to working in partnership to help the country emerge from ten years of conflict and to build firm foundations for a peaceful, stable, democratic and prosperous Nepal. Please take a moment to look at some of the things we are doing – see Working with Nepal.  The UK is Nepal’s largest bilateral development partner – have a look at what the Department for International Development is doing in health, education, road building and other areas. The British Council has been working in Nepal for 50 years, promoting people-to-people contacts and developing English language skills. See their website for more. You can also learn more about the British Army’s Gurkha troops.

Here you will also find links to practical information of various sorts. If you are a British citizen seeking travel advice, or help in finding a doctor or lawyer, or you need to renew your passport, see the link to the Help for British Nationals and Passports pages for issues we can (and can’t) help with. We warmly welcome genuine visitors, so if you are a Nepali citizen wishing to visit, study or work in the UK please go to the Visa link for information about the application process. If you are interested in doing business with the UK go to the Doing Business link.

I hope what you find here is interesting and relevant. If you have any comments or questions please do email me at BEKathmandu@fco.gov.uk
